The Special Advisor and Assistant to the President ,Mr Ben Phiri refuted claims by some political commentators who are branding President Mutharika and the DPP government as clueless.
In the interview with capital FM radio, Ben Phiri told Malawians that President Mutharika remains focused and visionary to solve the problems in the country.
“If the President is clueless,Malawians could not have voted for Peter Mutharika in power,it is because the President has a vision for the nation which he unveiled during campaign in the manifesto hence Malawians voted him into power as they believe in his capabilities,”said
Ben said Mutharika promised to be an office President rather than a globetrotting President this was obviously a dig at former President Joyce Banda who took her first trip to Liberia and Nigeria within two days of being sworn into office.
Ben said people can not be blamed for thinking the President was not doing enough. Comparing them to a patient when sick does not feel like enough is being done.
On strikes Ben said President Mutharika was giving this his full attention. He said the Presidents silence does not mean he is not working on the issue but does not see any sense in making speeches unless all avenues have been explored.
He then repeated government talking points like Goodall Gondwe about harmonising Salaries.
