Bullets condemn fan chaos, probe underway

2 Min Read

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have strongly condemned the unsporting behaviour displayed by some of their supporters during the Castel Challenge Cup semifinal against Mzuzu City Hammers played at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday, 8 February 2026.

The club described the incidents as completely unacceptable, stressing that such conduct goes against the core values of fair play, respect and sportsmanship that define the People’s Team.

Bullets emphasized that football is meant to unite communities and provide a safe, family friendly environment, not a platform for behaviour that endangers or disrespects others.

Following the incident, the club announced that it has launched a thorough internal investigation to establish exactly what transpired during the match.

As part of the process, Big Bullets are reviewing all available video footage and evidence related to the misconduct shown in the stands.

The club has also assured the public that it will fully cooperate with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), security agencies and all relevant stakeholders.

Bullets warned that anyone found responsible will face strict punishment under the laws of the game, adding that the club will not tolerate conduct that tarnishes its image or brings Malawian football into disrepute.

Information gathered by MaraviPost indicates that the situation escalated after a supporter involved in the misconduct was apprehended by stewards at the stadium.

The individual was later overpowered by some Bullets supporters who intervened during the stewards’ attempt to handle the matter.

The supporter was then taken to the Ndirande Stand, where he was allegedly given money in what was viewed as praise for his actions.

Sports analyst Enock Banda has condemned the incident, saying it is worrying that such behaviour continues to be witnessed during matches this season.

Banda noted that repeated cases of indiscipline reflect serious challenges within football culture and called for stronger measures to deter offenders.

Another sports analyst, Ibrahim Phiri, described the actions of the supporters as disappointing, particularly the decision to overpower stewards instead of respecting authority.

Phiri, however, commended the stewards for attempting to enforce order and called for firm punishment of those involved so that others can learn.
