The Deputy Regional Director of Elections for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the Central Region, the Honourable Levy Luewamba, has officially announced the date for the party’s much-anticipated primary elections.

According to Luewamba, the internal elections, commonly referred to as the “primary elections,” are scheduled to take place on the 25th of April this year.

This announcement comes at a critical time when the DPP is intensifying its preparations ahead of the forthcoming general elections and aims to consolidate its leadership structures across the region.

The primary elections are expected to help the party identify and endorse strong candidates who will represent the DPP in various political positions during the national elections.

Luewamba emphasized that the DPP is committed to transparency, fairness, and credibility in the entire electoral process, and that every effort is being made to ensure the primaries are conducted peacefully and professionally.

He also mentioned that the party will strictly adhere to its constitution and electoral guidelines in managing the primary elections, to prevent internal disputes and ensure harmony among aspirants.

The Deputy Director further explained that the selection process is open to all eligible DPP members who wish to contest, as long as they meet the criteria set by the party’s electoral commission.

He urged all interested candidates to submit their applications on time and to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful and respectful manner.

Luewamba noted that the Central Region holds strategic importance to the DPP, and as such, the primaries must be executed with the utmost diligence and integrity.

He also took the opportunity to commend party structures in the region for their continued commitment, discipline, and readiness to support the electoral process.

The Deputy Director stressed that the primary elections are not merely a procedural formality but are a crucial step in strengthening the internal democracy of the party.

He called upon all party members and supporters in the Central Region to take part in the process actively and responsibly, ensuring that the selections reflect the will of the people.

Luewamba highlighted that the party’s leadership is working closely with local committees to ensure logistical arrangements, security, and voter education are in place ahead of the big day.

He warned that any form of violence, intimidation, or misconduct during the primaries would not be tolerated, and that disciplinary action would be taken against any individuals found breaching the party’s code of conduct.

In conclusion, Levy Luewamba expressed confidence that the primary elections on April 25 will mark a significant milestone in DPP’s journey to reclaim political dominance, restore trust among its supporters, and prepare for a strong showing in the upcoming general elections.
