LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera, says his leadership cherishes the newly signed airline service agreement between Malawi and Mozambique, which will see the launch of direct flights between the two countries thereby propelling Malawi’s tourism sector.
Chakwera made the remarks on Friday during a media engagement at the conclusion of the two day official visit to Malawi by Mozambique Daniel Francisco Chapo at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe.
During the talks, the countries of Malawi and Mozambique signed 3 bilateral agreements, which are aimed at enhancing export trade, air travel and ICT services between the two countries.
These are air services, ICT and the operationalization of Dedza – Calomue One-Stop Border Post.
In his remarks, President Chakwera called on the responsible ministries in both Malawi and Mozambique to see it that the pacts are implemented for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
On his part, President Chapo emphasized the need for the two countries to all the signed pacts into action. Commenting on the forthcoming general elections, Chapo prayed for a peaceful and fair elections before wishing President Chakwera’s victory in the polls.
He stressed that Chakwera’s triumph will ensure continuity and allow completion of vital joint projects between the two nations.
Meanwhile, President has extended to President Chakwera for a state visit as well as to participate at the country’s independence celebrations which falls on June 25th.
