Chakwera’s convoy hecklers case discountinued

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Masauko Chamkakala on Thursday, January 25, 2024, discontinued a case involving three Ndirande Township residents who were arrested in connection to the obstruction and stoning of President Lazarus Chakwera’s convoy on Friday last week.

Chamkakala confirmed the development to the local press

The three, namely Pearson Chimimba and Hector Ndawala (who were arrested on Monday) and Lucy Namba (who was picked on Tuesday night) was charged with three counts of intention to endanger the safety of persons travelling by road, criminal negligence, and failing to stop for the State President.

The move comes after Ndirande residents threatened to storm the court today, Friday, January 26 in solidarity with the suspects
