LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse government and instrumental civic education partner have unveiled civic education policy aimed at spearheading the national mindset agenda.

The policy is to facilitate transformative civic education which will boast much emphasis on mindset and positive behavior change among Malawians.

National Unity Minister Timothy Mtambo said the Tonse administration believes that civic education and knowledge removes fear among the citizenry

“The policy is going yo promote coordination of civic education providers in the country, the policy is going to promote establishment of civic engagement platforms within the country, its going to eventually consolidate efforts which different civic providers have been doing on the country”, he said.

On his part Ollen Mwaliunju National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust executive director said the coming in of democracy resulted in many Malawians for using on the issue of human rights without concentrating on the issue of responsibilities.

“For us in nice but also from the sector of civic education we think this is a good foundation and if we can hold hands we can make a difference because the country is challenges with many issues that needs civic education,” says Mwaliunju.

Eu representative resident representative Iyvo Huvukezi said the national civic education policy is crucial to helping Malawi to change the mindset of the citizenry regarding various development issues.

NICE policy was among the earmarked targets which the minister promised during the 100 days Report to be delivered.
