LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Minister of Youth and Sports who is also Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Youth Director Richard Chimwendo Banda has disclosed that Tonse government will launch the National Youth Service in June, 2022.
Chimwendo Banda lauded Ministry of Finance for putting aside money amounting MK3.5 billion earmarking to empower unemployed youths to be self-reliant through small scale businesses.
He therefore advised the youth to venture into commercial farming than color job saying there is money in agriculture citing prices of soya beans which have gone up to MK700 per kilogram.
Chimwendo was speaking during MCP youth rally at Area 25, in the capital Lilongwe on Monday, May 16, 2022.
He therefore urged youths in the country to prepare well to use the money of the National Youth Service for its intended purpose.
“If this happen during my life as Director of Youth I will resign,” said Chimwendo Banda.
MCPs Deputy Secretary General who is also Speaker of Parliament, Catherine Gotani-Hara, reminded Malawians that opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) wants to bounce back into government to continue with their regionalism tendency.
Gotani Hara hinted that Malawians are not ready again to be governed by tribalistic party that kept on sidelining people from the North and Centre in government offices.
Minister of Finance, Sosten Gwengwe chipped in saying Malawi is sailing through forex shortages which started way back in 2017 during the DPP led government as a result of borrowing huge sums of money, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) wants its money back amounting to over US$350 million.
Gwengwe assured the rally that Chakwera government is doing everything possible to develop all districts in Malawi despite of forex shortages.
