LILONGWE, MaraviPost: Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General, Richard Chimwendo Banda, has urged residents of Lilongwe City Centre Constituency to support and vote for the party’s parliamentary candidate, Gift Nankhuni, in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a political rally, at Chatata community ground on Saturday May 24,Chimwendo praised Nankhuni for his dedication and generosity to the constituency, even without holding an official position.
He highlighted Nankhuni’s contributions, including the donation of ambulances and other essential supplies, as a testament to his commitment to improving lives in the community.
“Gift Nankhuni has already proven his passion for serving the people,”
” He has been a helping hand to many, especially the vulnerable, and I believe he will do even more if given the mandate,” said Chimwendo.
In his address, a renowned lawyer,Nankhuni expressed gratitude to the community for turning out in large numbers to attend the rally.
He pledged to continue supporting local development initiatives and working closely with residents to address their needs.
The rally marked a significant step in the MCP’s campaign efforts as the party gears up for the upcoming general elections scheduled on 16 September 2025.
The rally drew significant political attention, with several prominent Members of Parliament in attendance, including Joshua Malango, Christopher Mwawa, Deus Gumba, Stevie Baba Malondera, Ulemu Msungama, and Sosten Gwengwe. Also present was Lilongwe City Mayor, Esther Sagawa, underscoring the event’s political weight and local significance.
