LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) runningmate Jane Ansah on Thursday, August 28, 2025 engaged central region traditional leaders including from the area of T/A Chadza in Lilongwe.

At the gathering, T/A Chadza was represented by Senior Group Kansabwe.

Ansah explained that the purpose of her visit was to introduce herself to the chiefs and inform them about her work.

She also briefed the traditional leaders on the campaign meetings she is planning to conduct.

Dr. Ansah added that she will tour various areas in the Central Region to provide detailed explanations of the DPP manifesto.

The manifesto highlights the visions of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the party regarding national development.

She emphasized that the DPP manifesto prioritizes the welfare of traditional leaders, demonstrating the party’s commitment to supporting their role in local communities.

Senior Group Kansabwe, representing T/A Chadza, welcomed Ansah with open hands.

He praised her humility and respect shown during the early stages of her campaign and in engaging with traditional authorities.

He promised to ensure that the Chadza area will be kept informed about the developments and discussions that took place during the meeting.

Dr. Jane Ansah’s engagement with traditional leaders in Central Region reflects a strategic effort by the DPP to consolidate grassroots support ahead of the 2025 elections.

By prioritizing courtesy visits and emphasizing the welfare of chiefs, the party seeks to reinforce its relationship with local governance structures that often influence community voting patterns.

The approach also signals the importance of aligning political campaigns with cultural respect and traditional authority, which remains influential in Malawi’s rural areas.

If executed effectively, these engagements could strengthen the DPP’s support base, particularly among communities that value direct communication and consultation with their leaders.
