NENO-(MaraviPost)—Malawi ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General Ecklen Kudontoni attacked Joyce Banda on Thursday in Neno district when Mutharika was officially opening Neno rural growth centre.

Taking the stage, Kudontoni said DPP is on the right track though Mutharika inherited the country while in bad shape.

He said it is a surprise that people are busy saying DPP is taking the country in a wrong direction while doing nothing about former president Joyce Banda who stole tax payers’ money and ran away.

“DPP is in the right direction and geared to change the lives of Malawians. I wonder why people are busy criticizing the government instead of talking about former president who is enjoying cash-gate money in South Africa,” said Kudontoni.

In his speech, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa said the rural growth centres are vital to boosting the country’s economic growth.

“We have seen people going to urban areas to look for jobs, others to do their business,” he said.

He however added that the project that started during Bingu Wa Mutharika’s reign will provide jobs for people in rural areas and will help reduce urban population.
