Eastern Region community hail Chakwera visit

LILONGWE-(MANA)-President Lazarus Chakwera’s visit to the Eastern Region last week has been met with great appreciation from the local community, signifying a strong and unified Malawi that is making strides towards progress.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA), proprietor of Rosalyn’s Beach Hotel in Mangochi, Dr Gerald Msukwa, expressed appreciation for President Chakwera’s visit, saying it reflects the president’s willingness to embrace new ideas and innovations in the tourism industry.

He said that the visit offered a timely platform to address challenges and propose solutions in the tourism sector, particularly in alignment with the Agriculture Tourism and Mining (ATM) strategy.

In a separate interview, Paramount Chief Kawinga of Machinga commended President Chakwera for his inclusive approach, highlighting the president’s efforts to honour and elevate the chieftaincy history of the region.

He pointed out the positive impact of government housing projects on the livelihoods of senior chiefs in Machinga, underscoring the president’s commitment to nationwide development through engagement with custodians from all regions and backgrounds.

“The visit provided a valuable opportunity for chiefs to articulate their needs and contribute to the progress of the nation,” Kawinga said.

Mayor Imam Chisuse of Mangochi Municipal Council emphasised the significance of the MonkeyBay-Cape Maclear Road, presenting it as a clear indication of government’s unwavering dedication to fostering development and promoting tourism in the Eastern Region.

“The president’s visit has not only inspired the business community but also solidified their commitment to collaborating with government to advance the country’s development,” said Chisuse.
