The Euro 2020 tournament will begin in June, though France’s Euro 2020 squad is beginning to take shape already. Choosing and incredibly strong squad, manager Didier Deschamps hope to include both fresh and seasoned players to the squad.

The last nation to be both a European and World champions at the same was Spain. France would be in that position had they not lost the Euro 2016 final to Portugal. To say the least, France have the toughest group in the competition but they should be able to get through the competitions knock-out stages, but again anything could happen. France 3rd place finish in Euro 96 was later followed by another win in the tournament when participating in Euro 2000, the moment David Trezeguet scored France’s goal at extra-time to beat Italy by 2-1. In Euro 2004 and Euro 2012, France managed to reach the quarter-finals. Euro 2008 signaled some discontent among the France’s squad as the failed to progress from the group stages.
When France hosted the competitions in 2016, they believed that it was the perfect time for them to win their third European Championship. On making their way to the final, the Les Bleus were theclear favorites when facing a weakened Portugal side when Cristiano Ronald limped off the field injured. Unfortunately, they lost the final in extra-time following a goal by Eder, much to the displeasure of France fans.
This time round, France will be hoping to rectify their mistakes, especially following their 2018 World Cup win. While there are other sides that may win the Euro 2020 such as England, Belgium, or even Spain, many believe that France will emerge victorious on the upcoming competition.
