BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-One of the country’s financial institutions FDH Bank on Monday donated K30 million to Mary’s Meals Malawi to support its school feeding program.

In an interview with journalists, the bank’s Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking, Kawawa Msapato said the donation is part of their ‘FDH Cares’ initiative that prioritizes education support.

On her part,Mary’s Meals Malawi Country Director, Angela Chipeta-Khonje, welcomed the support, highlighting its importance amid growing food insecurity.

Mary’s Meals Malawi provides daily meals to over 1 million children in the country.

The program began in 2002 after Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, the founder of Mary’s Meals, met a 14-year-old boy named Edward who expressed his desire for food and education.

Since then, Mary’s Meals Malawi has grown to become one of the largest school feeding programs in the country, operating in most districts and serving a maize and soya porridge, known as ‘likuni phala,’ fortified with essential vitamins and minerals.
