Former MCP leader John Tembo in South Africa for medical treatment

PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)-Former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President John Tembo has left the country for South Africa for medical checkup.

Tembo’s son, John Tembo Jr confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to him, his father will return next week.

Tembo retired from front-line politics in the run up to the May 20, 2014 tripartite election which saw President Mutharika of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) emerging victorious.

The retired politician left the party in the hands of Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

Last year, President Mutharika visited Tembo at his residence in the capital Lilongwe after the news bloke out that he was unwell.
