Germany’s sex workers demand opening of brothels amid Covid-19 spike

HAMBURG-(MaraviPost)-Sex Workers in Germany took it to the streets demanding opening of house of ill fame following closure as one way to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Reports indicated that brothels were shut down in mid-March together with other service providing industries in attempt to stem the spread of coronavirus.

However the country started easing some restrictions with shops, restaurants and bars back in operation leaving the house of sex workers still closed.

A report by Reuters revealed that the Association of Sex Workers, which organised the protest, said the continued closure of licensed premises has been forcing some prostitutes onto the streets, which is illegal and a far more dangerous and unhygienic way of working.

The grouping has appealed with government to open the places and It has vowed to incorporate pandemic safety measures adopted by other industries, including face masks, ventilating premises and recording visitors’ contact details.
