Kokoliko Holdings Ltd

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has written the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to probe the allegations the former has received regarding a dubious tender awarded to Kokoliko Holdings Limited to supply fertiliser to government.

According to the letter which Maravipost has seen, Kokoliko Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has been awarded a tender to supply fertiliser under the current Farm Input Subsidy Program being implemented by the Tonse Alliance government.

“We have received allegations that Kokoliko Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Malawi Congress Party has been awarded a tender to supply fertiliser under the current Farm Input Subsidy Program being implemented by Malawi Government using tax payers money.

“It is further alleged that Kokoliko Holding Ltd delayed to bid for the tenders and ended up influencing the award to be given to one of the companies that was listed in the media of late to get huge awards using different names while behind the party entity,” reads the letter in part.

HRDC has also tipped the graft busting body that Mr Daud Suleman, an MCP top dog, has personally been embroiled in influencing the award of the tender to the said company using political spanners.

The letter has further revealed that it has information that Kokoliko Holdings Ltd is a company that some MCP political heavyweights wish to be using in siphoning tax payers money through uncensored tenders.

During its campaign in the run up to June 23 fresh presidential polls, Tonse Alliance government; whose main ally is MCP, promised a universal subsidy program of selling bags of fertiliser at as low as MK4,450 per 50kg net.
