Popular TV Actor Papa Shirandula dies

NAIROBI-(MaraviPost)-Kenya’s renown actor and comedian Charles Bukeko popularly knows as “Papa Shirandula” has died moments after developing breathing complications in Nairobi.

His brother-in-law Rowland Wanyama confirmed the news on Saturday July 18.

Rowland disclosed that Bukeko had not been feeling well after returning to Nairobi on Sunday and he went for a checkup at the Karen Hospital on Monday and thereafter returned home.

The star news said Bukeko collapsed at the Karen Hospital’s parking after developing breathing complications.

He reportedly tested positive to coronavirus and the doctors asked him to return home and have home-based care.

Bukeko rose to fame when he was cast to play the role of Papa Shirandula in the popular TV series Papa Shirandula which aired on Citizen TV.

Before his demise, he appeared in several other TV shows such as The Captain of Nakara (2012) and in big-time commercials across the world including Coca Cola and GoTV.

He has left behind a wife, Beatrice Ebbie Andega, and three children; Tony, Charlie and Wendy.
