MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Defense Force Commander Vincent Nundwe on Tuesday assured the nation of tight security as citizens are waiting with bated breathe for the judgment of the high profile presidential election case on Monday, February 3, 2020.
Nundwe said MDF and the Malawi Police Service (MPS) have all security measures in place to make sure that the judgment is pronounced in a peaceful atmosphere and no insurgency ensues in the country afterwards.
“We already protect the judges, so we are putting necessary arrangements in place to make sure we give them protection on the day they are going to pronounce the judgment. Besides, we will give them the security from wherever they we be to the court and back to where they will temporarily rest before going back to their respective work places. Nobody should be worried about security. MDF and the Police will work together to make sure there is enough security in the country,” said Lieutenant Nundwe.
Lately, MDF and the Police have been in joint operations in maintaining peace and order during some protests, which at some points turned ugly.
Yesterday, the Registrar of the High Court announced that on Monday 3rd February, 2020 the five judges who are currently compiling the judgment of the presidential election case, will pronounce the same.
Recently, political party leaders embarked on a sensation tour appealing to their followers to accept the judgment of the case.
