Malawi to Host Landmark 7th Africa-Wide Agricultural Extension Week in Lilongwe

LILONGWE Maravipost: Malawi is set to take centre stage in continental agricultural innovation as it hosts the 7th Africa-Wide Agricultural Extension Week from 12th to 16th May in Lilongwe.

The high-profile event, organized by the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) in partnership with the Malawi Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (MaFAAS) and the Ministry of Agriculture, will bring together delegates from across Africa.

Speaking ahead of the event on Tuesday April 28, in a media briefing Minister of Agriculture Sam Kawale emphasized the significance of embracing digital transformation in agriculture.

He noted that this year’s theme will spotlight the integration of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, into agricultural advisory services.

“Our Agricultural Advisory Services need to be rebranded to align with modern digital tools and technology,”

“We are calling on all stakeholders to take part in this important week that will shape the future of agriculture on the continent.”Kawale said.

Rex Chapota, Executive Member of MaFAAS, highlighted that the event provides a valuable platform for agricultural stakeholders to showcase innovative services and products, exchange ideas, and forge strategic partnerships.

With Malawi playing host, the event is expected to enhance the country’s visibility in the field of agricultural development and innovation.
