While the news was shocking at first many Malawians appear to think the Peter Mutharika Government, If not totally fabricated the whole story, they are embellishing it to distract from the hard times they are having with the Malawi economy.
A Facebook status in part reads:
“Please, Mr. President and your questionable aides do not divert us from economic mess you have inflicted on Malawians with the staged plot that the opposition parties with support from US Embassy wanting to remove you on that hot seat…
Malawians want maize in ADMAR, ,Malawians want electricity tariffs to be lower, Malawians want the Kwacha to be stable, Malawians want drugs and food in public hospital and Malawians want reduction in inflation rate.
This madness won’t take your leadership anywhere but witnessing what transpired in 2011-2012….We want solutions now not this raw deal” ; wrote Lloyd M’bwana
Sitinga Kachipande in the United States sharing the Maravi Post Exclusive on her Facebook wrote the following:
“Seriously, this sounds like utter nonsense that probably can’t be proven. Smh. Just reading the content seems like somebody’s fantasy world — the deal includes “not electing anyone from the south for the next 20yrs?” Really? What a waste of reading time”.
Reaction and most Comments also tend to throw doubt as to the truthfulness of the story. Many have directed their anger at the Maravi Post for even posting the story without checking with the accused.
They ask if we even approached the Embassies in question or contacted Lazarus Chakwera for reaction.
What we can assure the readers are the following facts as we have verified them.
Lazarus Chakwera has been in the USA for more than a week now. He has travelled to many states, however we have not been able to vouch for who he has been meeting.
We can also confirm to the fact that while Lazarus Chakwera was in Malawi he met Virginia Palmer several times. However their discussions were said to be private and would not be made available to us.
We also can confirm that the Goal of the USA and Virginia Palmer has been to get rid of Malawi Sodomy laws and force our country to legalise Gay Marriage.
It is also not UN usual for Kapito and other Civil Society activists who are funded by the West to meet with their Financers and discuss strategy. However we cannot confirm whether those discussions were calling for the destabilization of the Mutharika Government.
At the moment we can confirm that parts of the Mutharika Government honestly believe that Chakwera and others are up to no good and intend to overthrow a democratically elected Government.
