A dark crowd on Thursday engulfed the area of Chief Ndakwera in Chikwawa district when thousands of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Supporters led by the party’s Vice President, Muhammed Sidik Mia escorted the late Bashir Hassan Goba who was the party’s Parliamentary  Aspiring Candidate for Chikwawa- Central Constituency to his final resting place.

The late Goba had died in a car accident on the night of Wednesday, February 6, 2019 along the Blantyre-Chikwawa road near Stella Maris Secondary School while on his way from Chikwawa.

The deceased was scheduled to present his nomination papers to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on Friday, February 8, 2019.

In line with the Islamic tradition, and apparently with heavy hearts, Mia was spotted joining men that lifted the jenazer carrying the remains of the late Goba.

Among the notable officials that accompanied Mia who is also MCP official runningmate, to mourn the fallen Goba were National Deputy Director of Research, Iryas Karim who is also Member of Parliament for Chikwawa South Constituency, Regional Chairman for the South, Peter Simbi and other members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and Southern region committee members.
