SALIMA-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) has embarked on a long week training with Malawi Defence Force (MDF) command and staff college students on contract management skills.
The training which has attracted 20 participates runs from September 26 to 30, 2022 at MDF base in Salima.
In his Opening remarks, MDF Chief of Training and Military Operations, Major General, Syford Kalisha said the training will help to combat corruption in the MDF and transform the way the MDF conducts it’s business in procurement.
Kalisha said MDF lacked contracting and management skills as the force used to have some gaps in servicing due to technology change.
“MDF being one of the institutions operating as a Public procurement entity in Malawi. Therefore, MIM has come at a right time to collaborate with us. The training will enhance the good ethics in procurement and supply chain management.
In her remarks, MIM Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Jessie kabwila said the training will help MDF staff to conduct their duties of contract management online with their counterparts in other countries.
Kabwila therefore lauded MDF for gender balance in the course saying it will motivate other female soldiers in all battalions.
The training’s participants are drawn from MDF directories including inspector generals office, logistics, law department, finance, Marine, MDF college and MAFCO.
