LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The proud sponsors of regional cups in the country, Nyasa Capital Finance Limited has hailed the football cups for playing great role in increasing company’s market base within short period.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer Fleetwood Haiya made the remarks on Sunday, September 25, 2022 when he presided over the launch of the second edition of MK8.3 million Nyasa capital Finance Cup in the Central Region at Mbabvi Ground in Lilongwe.

Haiya said within this period of one year they have ventured into football, their marketing base has increased and that their company’s name now has become name of the households.
“The regional leagues have pushed our brand to reach to many. We are looking forward for a win win deal which is being implemented already as our business has grown up since we came up with the decision of sponsoring football”,
“Apart from increasing our market base. We are sponsoring the sport to compliment government efforts of developing the sport from the grassroot,” said Haiya.
Nyasa Capital Finance and Football Association of Malawi (FAM) signed a three year contract to sponsor the regional cups to the tune of MK45 million in September 2021 which each region CRFA,SRFA and SRFA were getting MK5 million per annum.
However the financial company which deals with agribusiness loans, education loans and consultant among others, increased the package to MK65 million after being satisfied with the way the cups were ran in the regions, each region is now getting MK8.3 million annual from the initial MK5 million.
During the launch at Mbabvi Ground, division one side Nsaru United FC pulled a shocker as they defeated and knockout out Chipiku Premier division outfit Mbabvi United FC 1-4.
Nsaru United FC scored through Leonard Joseph, Joseph Lajabu, Yamikani Tokyo and Apatsa Kadumbo while the home team consolation goal came from Mike Chitani.
Games continue this coming weekend with lots of shocking and upsetting results anticipated as some Premier Division teams have been paired with Division one sides in the knock out stages.
Bernard Chiwiriwiri Harawa, CRFA General Secretary, said the second edition of the regional cup will be participated by 32 teams.
The 32 teams will play on knock out format to qualify to the round of 16.In the round of 16 teams will still fight for their place in the last 8.
The 8 remaining teams will play to see who is going to be eliminated from the cup. The remaining 4 teams now will play as league format.
The team that collect more points amongst the four will be crowned champions.
The cup has been launched in all the three regions. Silver Strikers Reserve FC are the defending champions of the cup in the central.
They defeated Kamuzu Barracks RSV FC 6-2 at Silver Stadium to win the cup in 2021 which was it’s maiden year.
