LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-One of the country’s human rights activists and former Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier Chimwemwe Mbeya Mhango Ntchindi has urged President Peter Mutharika’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led-government to make arrests based on enough evidence without biasnsess and favours.

Mhango is reacting to the wave of arrests ahead after regime’s change of power from Lazarus Chakwera’s Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to Mutharika’s government.

The human rights activist observes that any arrests must be thoroughly investigated first without biasnsess.

“There will be wave of arrests on those mismanaged public funds, involved in fraud, abuse of power that the move must follow rule of just.

“Everyone must face the law regardless of what position they were holding in public office. Mutharika’s government must adhere to the rule of justice on all wrongdoers,” urges Mhango.

He however urged young people to refrain from being used by politicians.

The activist therefore encourages young people to venture into avenues for self-reliant economically.

“For the past weeks, the nation witnessed the arrests of panga-wielding thugs of Chakwera-MCP regime. Those suspects committed the crimes after being sent by politicians. Now they are alone in court to answer criminal charges.

“This is the reason, I’m urging young people to venture into well-productive avenues for source of income than being used by politicians”, appeals Mhango.

Since Mutharika returned to State House two months ago, has demonstrated quality leadership particularly on austerity measures amid social-economic ills Chakwera left.

Mutharika-DPP led-government has inherited numerous crises including forex, food, fuel, high cost of living and inflation.
