New tax free band, wages implementation to wait Malawi Parliament

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawians need to wait a bit longer starting enjoying the new free tax band and wages.

The Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 told the nation that the implementation of the adjusted tax free band of MK100,000 and MK45,000 minimum wage will start once Parliament reconvenes for 2020/2021 budget meeting.

Spokesperson for the ministry, Williams Banda, says there is need for Parliament to deliberate on and pass the Taxation Amendment Bill before the adjustment becomes effective.

Malawi Parliament is expected to finalise the 2020/2021 national budget in September this year after adopted the provision budget in June 2020.
