LONDON-(MaraviPost)-The 59-year-old Ex-MP Eric Joyce has pleaded guilty on Tuesday July 7, 2020 at Ipswich Crown Court after to making child porn which included a 12-month-old baby.
The charge against the Former Labour shadow minister alleged that, between 7 August 2013 and 6 November 2018 made an indecent photograph of a child that was found on a device.
Mr Joyce who served as a Labour MP between 2000 and 2012, before stepping down to become an independent until 2015 was arrested in November 2018.
He was charged under the Protection of Child Act and was granted unconditional bail following his appearance in court on 10 June this year ahead of his sentencing on August 7.
Reports by Daily Mail indicates that Mr Joyce has also been instructed to sign the sex offenders register following his guilty plea.
Joyce first came to public attention in 1998, while serving as a private in the Black Watch when he branded the Army “snobbish and rife with racism and sexism” before he resigned at the rank of major.
He then worked as the Public Affairs Officer at the Commission for Racial Equality (Scotland) before fully making it into politics. After joining politics, Joyce had been arrested five times during his last five years as an MP.
He will be charged of making a category A indecent photograph or video of a child which attracts a maximum sentence of three years.
