BORNO STATE-(MaraviPost)-Nigerian Army has rescued about 165 women and children from terrorist in Borno State.
The army media operation coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu confirmed this today in a Statement.
According to Iliyasu, one terrorist has been killed and one has been captured alive during the operation that started on 27 December last year in Bama village in the state.
The operation that involved Multinational Joint Task Forces has also arrested a high profile Boko Haram informant/logistics supplier, Ibrahim Buba and two others who are believed to be his couriers at Shuwari village in Damboa District.
He added that about 75 Boko Haram agents have been arrested and 15 vehicles belonging to the terrorist group have been destroyed in northern Borno.
The rescued civilians were sent to a humanitarian facility in Monguno and later transferred to officials of Borno State Emergency Management Agency for proper screening and treatment.
As quoted by Punch news, Iliyasu said: “The children among them were administered with polio vaccine by the Buratai Intervention Task Force Initiative”.
Iliyasu also disclosed that one AK 47 Rifle loaded with 13 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition in Zamfara State was recovered and one man, Mr Moses Ali has been arrested for being in possession of a locally made gun loaded with 9 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition at Ningon Gari in Sanga LGA of Kaduna State during the operation.
Commenting on the matter, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has thanked the Nigerian army for the successful operation and he has in return promised to improve their welfare.
