Dear fellow Malawians,
Malawi is in dire need of a new, bright, and brave president—one with vast experience and a genuine love for this country.
When I reflect on the state of our nation, I see a country that has sunk in almost all aspects—economically, socially, and even physically. This decline is due to incompetent leadership. It is clear that President Lazarus Chakwera has no clue about what is happening in Malawi.
Instead of addressing real issues affecting Malawians, President Chakwera is busy handing out money to the youth under the guise of engagement. This is nothing but a tactic to manipulate them while ignoring the deeper problems facing the country.
Looking back at Malawi’s history, we have never had a president as ineffective as Chakwera. He has completely lost control of the country and has even failed to manage his own cabinet. He struggles to make timely decisions that could help Malawians in these difficult times.
One of his greatest failures has been his reluctance to implement the recommendations of a report that he himself commissioned and assigned to the late Vice President, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima. This report, which still sits in his office, contained valuable recommendations such as clearing the rubble, adjusting the minimum wage, and increasing salaries for civil servants.
I recall that one of the proposals in that report suggested setting the minimum salary for civil servants at K300,000 back in 2021—a decision that would have made a significant difference in people’s lives. However, Chakwera has chosen to ignore it. What kind of leader neglects such a crucial report that could have transformed lives?
Moreover, he failed to utilize the wisdom and experience of his late Vice President, a man who had demonstrated commitment to improving governance. This was a missed opportunity to steer Malawi in the right direction.
If you listen to conversations in public transport today, all you hear is frustration. People are angry, complaining, and even cursing because of how Chakwera is running this country. His priorities are misplaced.
For example, while thousands of Malawians are struggling to afford food, he is distributing handouts to youths attending the State of the Nation Address (SONA). Meanwhile, he has failed to fulfill promises made to the 61 families who lost their loved ones in tragic circumstances. This shows that he lacks both priorities and a capable team of advisors.
The soaring price of maize is another major concern. In fact, many Malawians are not even worried about how expensive maize has become—they simply cannot afford it at all. The level of poverty and hunger in the country is devastating.
Adding to the frustration, Chakwera recently stood before the youth in Mzuzu and made a bold claim that his administration has created 1.5 million jobs. This is a blatant lie. The truth is that over 1.5 million people have lost their jobs since he took office. He lacks accurate data on employment and yet had the audacity to make such a false claim on national television—without shame or remorse.
Malawians, especially the youth, must take their future seriously. Do not make the mistake of voting for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) either. The DPP has its own set of problems. If you look closely, you will see that behind former President Peter Mutharika, there are a few individuals who will manipulate him and run the country from behind the scenes. This would be a dangerous mistake for Malawi.
Our nation needs a fresh, intelligent, and capable leader with proven experience—someone like Dr. Dalitso Kabambe. Not Mutharika, not Chakwera. Let us not repeat the mistakes of the past.
Another example of this administration’s incompetence is the so-called reopening of Mzuzu Airport. Chakwera was so desperate to showcase an achievement that he even asked Malawian Airlines to land an aircraft there, claiming the airport was operational. Fortunately, the airline refused to be part of the joke. What Chakwera calls an airport is nothing more than an airstrip.
This government is a disaster. It has to go. If we compare Chakwera to previous presidents, he is undoubtedly the worst. On a scale of 0 to 10, he deserves a zero.
Malawians, I plead with you—do not vote for MCP again.
Lastly, I want to remind my fellow Malawians, especially the youth, that we need a leader who is both “youthful and useful.” That leader is Dr. Dalitso Kabambe.
Dr. Kabambe has dedicated his entire career to serving Malawi. He has worked at both junior and senior levels of government and has consistently delivered results.
Many of you remember that during Bingu wa Mutharika’s presidency, Malawi’s economy thrived. The man behind that success was Dr. Dalitso Kabambe.
Under Peter Mutharika’s administration from 2014 to 2020, the economy remained stable. Again, the man behind that success was Dr. Dalitso Kabambe. With 23 years of experience in economic management, he is the right person to lead Malawi forward.
Young people of Malawi, let us not allow MCP to continue ruining our country. This is our homeland, and we must rescue it from corrupt and incompetent politicians who are only here to exploit it.
The future of Malawi depends on the choices we make today. Let us choose wisely.
God bless Malawi!
