Lilongwe, February 21, 2016: Pentecost International Christian Centre (PICC) will hold special prayers for the Malawi on March 3 to seek God’s intervention over the country’s economic challenges.
According to senior pastor of PICC Esau Banda the prayers will be held under the theme “Out of the Horrible Pit.”
Banda said the theme is taken from Psalms 40:1-2: “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.”
He called on people of other denominations in the country to join PICC for the “seven-hour [8am-3pm] intensive battle against forces of darkness for the rescue of this nation.”
The prayers will take place at PICC headquarters in Lilongwe situated along Kaunda Road, Opposite the Area 49 Town Houses.
“The psalmist had to cry out to the Lord for him to be brought out of the horrible pit and the bible says that the Lord inclined to him and heard his cry, as a nation we must cry out to God for Malawi and surely, God, who is no respecter of persons, will hear our cry.
“The result of the prayer of the psalmist was that God brought him up out of the horrible pit and out of the miry clay and set his feet upon the rock and his steps were established,” said Banda.
He added: “We have the same confidence in praying for Malawi, this nation must not continue in its current path, something new must happen in this land, but it takes the prayers of the saints for this kind of change to happen. If there is somebody to pray, there is a God to answer.”
He asked those that will attend the prayers to fast on the day saying Jesus in Mark 9:29 had said “This kind goes not except by prayer and fasting.”
“We encourage all intercessors and well-meaning inhabitants of the land to join us on this day. Let us pray for Malawi. God is ready to hear and answer our prayers.” he said.
