LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As Malawi refuse to endorse the Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) Ministerial Committee on Education , Health and Well-being for adolescents and young people because the agenda includes the rights of minorities, Sexual Reproductive Heath and Rights (SRHR) calls for Malawi law commission to review the countries law.
SRHR National Coordinator, Hastings Saka told Maravi post in an interview that they Alliance with support from ARASA under Bodily Autonomy and Integrity (BAI) in the fight of inclusion of minority rights.
” we are combing through the current laws including Penal Code to establish the existing gaps and engage government and law commission from an informed point of view so that laws should be revised in the interest of universal health coverage , regional and global human rights statutes,” said Saka

He said without the change the rights of minorities will continue being abused as they exposed to all sorts of physical, emotional abuse and social aggression in Public places.
He therefore point out the sporadic reports of systemic denial of access to social services by minorities in Malawi.
During the meeting Project Officer for UNESCO Naomi Munthali said that the vision of the adoption of the agenda was to support African adolescents and youth people to be continental and global citizens who are educated,healthy, resilient, socially responsible with the capacity to contribute to their communities.
Munthali added that countries like Zimbabwe , Mozambique,South Africa, Namibia, South Africa,Lesotho endorsed and committed but till date Malawi is still consulting.
