PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)-Known by many as the daughter of the late reggae music sensation and maestro Lucky Dube, Nkulee Dube has continued in her father’s footsteps as an artist and continues to fly the reggae flag high; fusing it with sounds of ethno-soul and jazz.

It is, however, worthy of note that when asked which artist in Ghana she would like a collaboration with Nkulee Dube mentions Kwesi Arthur, who predominantly does rap, therefore, affirming that the exploits of Kwesi Arthur are known beyond the shores of Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on Y 97.9 FM with Haruna Babaginda host of Reggae Republic, she said: ‘’I would like to collaborate with Kwesi Arthur, I like his poetic vibes.’’

Nkulee Dube also spoke about the beginning of her career where risqué Afropop star Lebo Mathosa, took her under her wing as a teenager.

“Afropop star Lebo Mathosa, a woman who made it in the male-dominated South African industry, took me under her wing and helped me to become what I am today,” she stated.

The South African songstress who emerged top nominee in six (6) categories during the 31st International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) has had some notable collaborations including Sizzla Kalonji or Sizzla, a Jamaican reggae recording artist.

October 18 2020 would mark thirteen (13) years since the murder of Lucky Dube, arguably one of the most successful artistes Africa has ever produced. Dube was killed by a group of thugs in a Johannesburg suburb in 2007.

The legacy of Dube, who pioneered a distinct variation of reggae-enriched with traditional South African music, has been passed on to his daughter, Nkulee Dube, and in that depth, a legacy lives on.
