Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed the news on Friday September 11 in a statement.
In a statement, Mojapelo said the two bodies of the deceased were found with several stab wounds tied inside their motor vehicle abandoned on the R37 next to the Kushcke off-ramp.
A reports by TimesLive revealed that cases of two counts of murder and house robbery have been opened following the gruesome death of the the two women.
On Friday, framed picture of the two was placed on a table next to a vase of flowers and an open book for people to pen their condolence messages.
The motive for the killings is still unknown but police said they cannot rule out robbery at the moment.
Police are searching for the two women, who lived together in Welgelegen near Cycad, after traces of blood were discovered inside their home with them missing when a neighbour visited their home.
