Member of Parliament for Chikwawa West, Susan Dossi, who joined DPP when they were the ruling party has now cut ties with the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) joined UTM Party which is in the governing Tonse Alliance.
Dossi, announced her defection to UTM on Tuesday afternoon at Chapananga Community Day Secondary School.
“I am now a member of UTM Party,” said Dossi.
Dossi has shown her independence streak throughout her tenure. Only last week writing on her Facebook page:
Today, Members of Parliament from Neno South, Hon Mark Katsonga Phiri, Neno North, Hon Thoko Tembo, Chikwawa West, Hon Susan Dossi and myself, Mwanza West Constituencies had an audience with the Minister of Transport, Hon Sidik Mia. On the agenda was the progress on the construction of the Tsangano-Mwanza Via Neno and the Chapananga-Mwanza Via Thambani Roads project. In attendance was Mr Ngaiyaye, Chairperson and Mr Hebrews Misomali, Publicity Secretary for Neno-Mwanza road advocacy group.
The move does not sit well with DPP secretary general Grezelder Jeffrey, who shared on her popular Facebook page the following:
Awa a Suzan Dossie ndi Change Gooloooooo achikazi! Section 65 tufuna igwire ntchito! Ngati Chakwera adalonjeza kudzatsata malamulo, Section 65 igwire ntchito pa uyu apo! No Political prostitution this time around I! MPs Should not take voters for granted!

However, UTM supporters like Lovely Tithokoze Ziyaya, were thrilled sharing this post:
Dear Sue… (Hon. Sue)
Whether you are blue, red, yellow, or pink, you are our sister always and we love you forever?. Hon. Susan Dossi
No one can say Malawi women politicians are dull.
