“Chakwera is running a corrupt nation”-Saunders Jumah

By Vincent Gunde

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-There is dissatisfaction and unwelcome sentiments on how President Lazarus Chakwera is running Tonse government that has been marred with corrupt aids and cabinet ministers.

This is making President Chakwera to fix an economy devastated by rampant corruption, looting and plunder by the previous government.

For six years under the former governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Peter Mutharika,Malawi was on autopilot, corruption and state plunder.

The social and economic crisis Malawi is facing now will remain regardless of which government or president might be in power.

Malawi is blanketed by the virus of tribalism and regionalism, these are the fruits of 26 years of multipartism and democracy, no angel will fix the economy after such devastation.

Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo pressure group Bantu Saunders Jumah, says if Malawi is to be exhumed for social and economic mess, there is a need for joint efforts by all citizens, players, politicians, party leaders, donors, NGO Agencies and religious organizations.

Jumah called for shortchanging of the country’s social and economic crisis by first doing away with ‘’ignorant raised voices’’ and replace them with ‘’improved arguments’’ that tackles the real and true cause of the crisis saying even if by 2025 Malawians can change government these crisis are not going to ease.

He said running government is a serious under-taking, childish things must be stopped for the sake of 18 million citizens.

Jumah noted that a few individuals are using people to make a name or enrich themselves saying when rebuilding a nation devastated by rampant corruption and public plunder, no need to entertain protests and demonstrations.

“Malawi need a ‘’Special Tribunal Court’’ to deal with the wave of corruption  in the country, what happened that Judiciary stopped the arrest of the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Kezzie Msukwa show our negligence to fight corruption in Malawi,” he said.

On COVID-19, Jumah observed that the pandemic has put Malawi on a conundrum saying Malawians must accept that the disease is a global problem.

He added that the general public must be part and parcel of the pandemic.

“Politics dictating Malawian lives”-Saunders Jumah

……………As Muvi wa Chilungamo pressure group is set to be launched

By Vincent Gunde

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Muvi wa Chilungamo pressure group says Malawians are coming from a history where politics has been dictating their lives assuring people that the pressure group was born for Malawians to manage themselves and be able to control politicians.

The pressure group said it has given itself three years to change the mindset of people in their thinking, behavior and attitudes.

The grouping is set to be launched on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Blantyre.

The group said 57 political parties have been registered in Malawi but the impact of the country is only seen in politicians for one main agenda, to get into government to become rich, steal, and make their names so big in the society, saying this kind of thinking has made Malawi poor.

Speaking to the media ahead of mindset change project launch on Friday, the group’s Commander in Chief and Pioneer of mindset change project, Bantu Saunders Jumah, said Malawi is a very rich country in the SADC region.

Jumah added that Malawi has everything to make it rich but politicians have labeled it poor for 57 years of the country’s independence.

He said that for Malawians to change mindset, there is a need to bring in a new behavior and mentality change in politicians for them to understand what this change of mindset is all about for their own people to trust them.

Jumah pointed out that mindset change project has already started baring fruits in many countries not only in Malawi including, South Africa, Zambia and Lesotho.

He disclosed that citizens of those countries theirs lives have changed politically and socially saying his critics are trying hard to see the project “Not producing tangible fruits as it has been coincided with demonstrations currently going on in the country”

’’We are preaching mindset change to the masses, there’s no impossible thing in life, what is impossible will be possible if all people change their thinking capacity,’’ said Jumah.

However, Jumah expressed sadness with the street protests that are going on in Malawi  reminding government to address the sky-rocketing prices of essential goods which have gone up making all Malawians to be at pain and suffering as if they do not have a government to hear their cries.

Jumah observes that Bon Kalindo’s protests continue citing Tonse government adamant to work on national issues raised saying Muvi wa Chilungamo pressure group will create a table where the two sides of Kalindo and government to meet on one table for solutions.

Explosing nepotism and worst corruption under President Peter Mutharika

By Saunders Jumah

Fellow citizens of Malawi,
At the granting of independence of our nation on July 6 1964 ethnicity was swallowed with a motto “Unity in diversity.” The tribes of Nyasaland then were dissolved to be Malawians. One race, one nation.

We have lived as such for decades, we were a nation that cherished hard work and toiling.

Those that prospered and became successful pat themselves on the shoulders for sweating a good cause.

When democracy arrived; sweat, hard work and toiling ran away.

You have to be in the ruling party to get contracts or become millionaires. You need to be loyal slaves of the ruling elite for you to live peacefully and happily. You have to be a bootlicker of the top rulers for you to skip justice.

This is the Malawi we have come up with after one party state system.

Today we will continue exposing abuse of power, corruption, nepotism and Lhomwenization of the Republic of Malawi.

Ever since Peter Mutharika became the president of the Republic of Malawi in 2014. Thieves have been discovered to be in the government while innocent souls are languishing in prisons.

85% of cash gate suspects are untouchables in the DPP government, this includes the top if not the entire Executive branch of the ruling party.

Anti Corruption Bureau busting body has no power to apprehend the appointing authority otherwise they will lose their positions. Police cannot arrest it’s own commandant.

The 35% that fell down with Joyce Banda are at the receiving end while those in government that got involved in Cash Gate are suing government for compensation of about 1.4 million US dollars for wrong arrest, just because they are in the ruling party.

Today we are told that lending interests rates have been reduced from 24 to 18% by Reserve bank of Malawi, inflation rate has come down to 9%, a boost to the economy only to realize that this whole process is farce and fake; the president’s nephew Mr. Dalitso Kambabe who is doing all these damages as a governor of Reserve Bank of Malawi is actually the nephew of president Peter Mutharika.

The board member of MACRA and Chief Executive Officer of Malawi Enterprise Development Fund Ms. Mervis Mangulenje is actually the side chick or girl friend of Chief State Secretary Mr. Lloyd Muhara.

Cash Gate suspects that are of DPP are untouchables, Richard Makondi is one of them, till now he has not been apprehended. Overnight millionaires in the likes Minister Kondwani Nakhumwa and president’s confidant Ben Phiri are richer without sweat in the country.

Malawi has stopped to be enjoyed by all citizens as diversified as we are supposed to be, all influential key positions that were held by non-Lhomwe tribes have been demoted or replaced by the Lhomwe tribe. Director of Tobacco Control Commission was demoted and got replaced by a Lhomwe.

These are some of the evils that Malawi has become as from 2014. Most people that have lost their jobs due to ethnic affiliations are feeling stateless and half citizens.

This is the most hurting lifestyle Malawians have not experienced ever since independence. In 1985 teachers from the north were removed from the rest of the country but they were teachers. Teachers only! Today it is influential and key positions in the government.

The government must know this is the worst and most dangerous to the plight of the nation.

DPP and president Peter Mutharika must rescind and diversify the nation in disregard to tribe and region.

Failing which 2019 is too far before citizens start reacting and responding.
Government must balance the allocation of positions in the government so that a rainbow must be seen to unite the country.

A nation without critical thinkers die, a nation of “Yes man” do not progress.

President Peter Mutharika denunciation of violence in Area 23 today is very deploring. He did not condemn violence instead he ignited more violence.

In his statement he backed the provoked for reaction and revenge first before he denounced it.

This indicate that the president support violence perpetrated by his cadets as he mentioned them.

We however appeal to the government to rectify and address these ills and stop driving this nation into anarchy and espionage.

Backing cadets is like sending them to harm and increase the spate of violence in the country.

We appeal to President Peter Mutharika to condemn and not at all condone corruption, nepotism and cash gate in our midst in the country.

No nation will develop with such attitude and malpractice.

President Mutharika, denounce your Party violence or risk losing Malawi’s trust!

By Saunders Jumah
Your Excellency! the jet lag has now departed from you and it’s time to get to business of being national leader.
The 18 days that you were out of Malawi, your Party turned to gangsterism and your cadets became ruffians. Property has been destroyed, and citizens wounded, one life, lost. Though the violence involved a person that can become the next head of state in 2019, you have chosen to listen and get advice from the perpetrators, instead of getting balanced information for you to make sound judgement.
You may not have been in Malawi by the year 1980, though we regard late Kamuzu Banda as a dictator he has his best side too. When drought and famine hit our nation his ministers chose to hide the phenomenon to the President.
By then not every minister was allowed to see or meet the Ngwazi. Mama Kadzamira and Uncle John Tembo had battery-caged the President by then, when citizens died at Limbe ADMARC and Grain and Milling company, the outcry was deadly. At Sanjika Stadium, Mayi Florence Tsamwa, stood up and narrated the following “Mwanawe anthu ako akufa ndi njala mmidzimu, akugonera mango ophika ndi nthambiyala.”
The country was shaken because no one could address the Life President like that during the one party era. Kamuzu Banda immediately got angry with his ministers, particularly John Tembo but what could he do the niece was the one calling the shots at Sanjika.
Everybody thought Mayi Tsamwa’s life was in danger, but Kamuzu Banda promoted her with a medal of the highest order [OLM] order of the Lion of Malawi, because she touched and called a spade by its rightful name.
Ministers including John Tembo were dispatched to Kenya and Brazil to buy maize, some of us survived because of that intervention, otherwise we could be gone. This was the moment Malawi was introduced to yellow maize from Kenya, many look at yellow maize as synonym with Kenya.
From then onwards the OLM Mayi Tsamwa, shifted her office from Clock Tower in the City of Blantyre to Sanjika Palace, close to the President.
This story must teach you a lesson, do not choose to hear what your minions want you to hear. At times listen to the voices you hate to hear so that you must know the real situation on the ground.
Your Excellency, the nation is crying, those of us who choose to tell the truth are threatened with death and ambush.
You have now taken leave from being the President of the Republic you are now the President of DPP and cadets.
Your failure and silence to denounce the barbarism of your Party, endorses and accents you as being a one-sided leader. You have chosen to be briefed by Mr. Binton Katsaila and ignored the eye witness of Mrs. Grace Chiumia, who is also Minister of Home Affairs and Security of citizens.
Your Excellency, by failing to provide maximum security to your opponent in 2019, you have proved that you are too scared of him, just as your supporters are scared of opposition voters.
Your Excellency, the democracy we have in Malawi cannot be claimed by one man or woman. Not only Chakufwa Chihana or Bakili Muluzi are heroes of democracy in Malawi. The heroes of democracy in Malawi are the Catholic Bishops (7 to be exact), and citizens who went to vote on 14th June 1993.
Do not be surprised to see rain of petitions from all corners of Malawi, criticizing you over your silence in denouncing political terrorism by your Party.
Failure to come into the open and denounce violence in this country, distances yourself from 64% of the people that did not vote for you in 2014 (though it is discovered late that the 36% was also manipulated in your favour) If Malawi was Kenya, the men and women of the wigs, were supposed to nullify the 2014 elections.
Your Excellency you must stand up and denounce political violence, and stop your Party from conducting politics of hooliganism.
As a student of western education (UK and the USA, you need to fire or force your publicity secretary Mr. Katsaila to resign. The man has plunged your Party into disrepute.
This statement however, appeals and calls upon you, Your Excellency, to come public and do the needful; denounce violence and pull the trigger on Malawi Police Service to apprehend the perpetrators.
Your Excellency our mother institution, the MALAWI ENGAGEMENT GROUP[MAENGA], is a think-tank of the future.
We are neutral in our objectives. Our core goal is to sensitize the nation and come into the constitutional path of the rule of law, where statecraft is managed, run and governed by the set rules from the supreme document called the Constitution of theRepublican of Malawi.
You are a man that defies and do not appreciate ultimatums Your Excellency; but to restore and build confidence on the nation, you have a week to stand up and denounce violence and appeal for peaceful political campaigns leading to the 17th October bye-elections.
Your Excellency, you may also need to investigate the rumours that have scared the nation of the alleged blood suckers.
Malawians are yet to recuperate from the albino genocide that devastated the entire nation.
Your Excellency, your name and track record are being tainted by your delay or ignoring to act.
Remember! The activeness of a leader builds the confidence of a nation. Your action in 7 days, will do you more good than the nation itself.

Liberating Malawi from the thuggery and undemocratic culture of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Malawi: PHASE ONE

By Saunders Jumah

Malawi has turned to anarchy, espionage, barbaric, violent, undemocratic and pariah the past 23 years.

The blood, the prisons and efforts that our liberation icons sacrificed to democratize and pluralise our political system has been in vain.

Soon Malawi will burn into full blown war of ethnicity if no appropriate measures are considered and taken into action. Malawi politics has twisted from national affairs to individual affairs; no wonder politicians have no will to condone the status quo.

This trend indicate any political party or leader that comes after 2019 will do likewise. It has become a culture that politics in Malawi means absolute powers.

As MAENGA and I believe all our sister institutions Transformation Alliance, Malawi Freedom Network, DEFENDERS OF THE FUTURE OF MALAWI, and many more well wishers are concerned to see and let this country we call home to be spilling down the drain on our watch.

We have every belief that opposition parties and leaders are all of the same opinion. Our nation has lost direction and senses. We are now directionless nation that is moving like a headless chicken.

Life is in towns, cities, villages and countrysides have reached a degree of dis-ease.

No one knows where we are heading to? As per economist Kachajes’ assertions to representative of World Bank and IMF no citizen has any idea as to where Malawi is heading to now or in the short or long term basis.

There is too much self deception, too much distortion amongst ourselves, political egotism and selfishness. These evils have taken over our nation leaving citizens hopeless and disgruntled.

Our policy of the future has disintegrated we are a CLUELESS nation obsessed by pocket and monetary power-thirsty.

Among us there are some who are feeling pain seeing this lovely motherland taking this path and direction, given chance and opening could turn the tables.

MAENGA GROUP is coming with a suggestion and proposition to the few patriots who are crying for this nation to consider. The total decolonization of the mindset instilled at the dawn of multiparty dispensation can be achieved by following these steps below.

Political demographic statistics indicate the Lhomwe belt has about 900,000 voters, Southern Region minus Lhomwe belt has about 1,300,000 registered voters. Central region has 1,100,000 voters and northern region has about 800,000 voters.

With our current First Past the Post system DPP the party that is causing havoc and disarray automatically has 36% of the votes if improved 40%.

Meaning MCP has 30+%, PP 26%, UDF 4%. Taking in mind the current trend of events and dissatisfaction of citizens MAENGA has its own trajectory of opinion poll.

As it stands DPP approval rate has dwindled from 36% to 26% which means 700,000 votes, UDF has trimmed it’s rate to 1.5%, PP with the absence of its leader has declined to 20%, MCP as an alternative way out has improved to 42% approval rate.

But there is more room for manipulation by DPP/UDF alliance looking at evil pattern of voting in Malawi which is regionalism.

“Regionalism put DPP/UDF on the upper hand to rig the results.

PHASE ONE OF LIBERATION OF MALAWI is to combine all opposition votes together and face the bedroom alliance of DPP/UDF which automatically will outsmart and unseat this undemocratic and thuggery government of Peter Mutharika.

New parties have been established with new ideas, others have reformed and rebranded and they are making inroads.

MAENGA proposes a coalition of all opposition parties in Malawi to form a government in 2019 up to 2024. This government will have to mould and restructure the statecraft that will be governed by the rule of law with all checks and balances dogs restored and teethed.

There are patriots whose dreams are not positions and power but restorative order.

It just takes patriotism to think of the country for this to work. If it is agreed negotiations must start now so that shadow government must start working on mechanisms and modalities in preparation for 2019. This coalition must leave no opposition party outside; it must be called Grand Coalition for Restoration.

This strategy appeal to Lazarus Chakwera, Joyce Banda, Kamuzu Chibambo, George Nnensa, Gondwe, Chisi, Sam Mpasu, Moses Kunkuyu, Chris Daza, Enock Chihana and all interested groups.

If endorsed the Chairperson and MAENGA can facilitate consultations and negotiations with the first meeting scheduled to be held in South Africa so that those in the diaspora to attend.

Malawi has been destroyed and left to rot because of individual power.

Laws of Malawi do not hold the nation any more.

It’s time men and women of diverse political ideologies forge ahead and finetune our nation all over again.

Malawi: a rotten society addicted to corruption

Any government service in Malawi can only be rendered perfectly through corrupt means and kickbacks. You cannot get a Malawi passport in Malawi without bribing an officer, you cannot renew or get a new driving license without bribing a traffic official, you cannot get an ambulance to ferry a sick citizen without giving out a bribe. You cannot receive any government service for free without officials or government servants pocketing something in return.

Malawi: a rotten society addicted to corruption

Out of this poor citizens that have no extra income to fatten corrupt civil servants are at the losing end. Passports or driving licenses that are applied within the set standards of amount do not come out or get approved. Even seeking for directions in Malawi the provider will have to be given something in return. Taking a photo of any product can lead one into trouble unless bribe is paid. Large cheques in the banks cannot be cashed as stipulated without bank managers or supervisors bribed. Many citizens are feeling the hit as service delivery are only rendered to those with extra cash.

This is how much society of Malawi has become rotten. Each and every citizen believes corruption is not an evil but a way of life. Corruption has become addictive that is practised openly.

All these are as a result of government’s failure and reluctance to root out and stop the vice called corruption and state theft. Anger in the hearts of many has unleashed the mentality of corrupt mindset where citizens are challenging if leaders are corrupt what more  with poor citizens? Citizens particularly civil servants and ordinary people including traditional chiefs have also joined the band wagon. When one is lost and you need direction be prepared to pay bribes or kickbacks. If you want the village head man to attend your funeral or village event the chief must be bribed to come on time. It’s worse because even the normal procedure of opening graveyards these days money must exchange hands between the affected family and the chief making life more vulnerable to those citizens who have nothing.

These are consequences of allowing corruption to reign in a country. Our country has lost the spirit of “Umunthu” because those in power have vehemently perpetuated corruption as a norm. Now that corrupt mindset has entered in the heart and soul of each and every citizen in the country, it will take decades for this syndrome to stop and get removed.

The title “Warm Heart of Africa” has been replaced by “Malawi Africa’s heart of corruption”.

Those in government must be ashamed to have ignored an international call to stop corruption. We are holding the government of DPP and Peter Mutharika responsible for the rotten society that has been created. Perhaps the country including those in power will learn the power of tolerance.

Had Peter Mutharika and his party heed the international call the time donors left to root out corruption our society could not become what it is today. Truly speaking the society of Malawi is rotten. Few corrupt mafias in the government and their relatives may not feel or see this rotteness because dirty money is calling the shots but ordinary citizens and those who founded a society that we cherished to have are in pains to see the direction our nation has taken under the current government and leadership.

We are a shameful society.
Government’s efforts for reform has been a farce because the whole exercise has failed to yield tangible results as the very archtectures are masterminders and engineers of corruption and state theft.

If you enter any government department from immigration to road traffic, from ESCOM to Water Board, from District Commission offices to city assemblies you will realize that Malawi has become a sick country because of corruption and state theft. No one mind about service delivery, everyone mind about pocketing kickbacks and bribes. Without giving kickbacks you will not be rendered services. It is true with private sector where big amounts of cheques in Malawi banks will not be cashed, or cleared without some kickbacks offered to bank managers and bank supervisors. This is a nation that we have created under the man and party that came in power in 2014 controversially.

Peter Mutharika has destroyed the hope of Malawi and destroyed our society.

The thing that can be remembered if he is to leave a legacy is to end what he started meaning he must do anything and everything in his power to end this vice so that civil servants and society can get back to the time when a passport was obtained on time after paying the normal government price tag. A driving license was easily obtained and timely without paying kickbacks and bribes to officials.

It all remains in the hands of the president to restore order and bring back sanity in the country.

With our own hands we can destroy Malawi but with our very hands we can remake Malawi.

Of Peter Mutharika’s 100 percent tolerance to corruption

“People shouldn’t be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.”
Alan Moore

If you want to know if you have a president worth your vote, confront him with an urgent people-anchored challenge. If he swiftly designs a strategy to fix what’s amiss, then, you know you have a leader.

But Malawi, at the time corruption has become the household name, has proved to be embroiled in leadership crisis and leaders have demonstrated their cling to archaic politics of arrogance in executing matters of national interest. Let me extend my sincere applause to Mr. Charles Kajoloweka together with his fellow activists for seeking an injunction restraining the minister of agriculture from executing duties to pave way for investigation in the k26 billion maize-gate scandal. That is the way to go as calling for Peter Mutharika and his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to root out corruption and bring sanity in Malawi is a waste of time.

After making several appeals for this government to instill fiscal discipline and root out corruption and public theft in President Mutharika and his minions as well as followers are dead deaf to take heed of the calls for sanity in the country. Our appeals have been constructive and peaceful, we have neither hidden our identities nor have we personalized our quest for a better Malawi to one individual. Our quest and appeal have been for the government and Peter Mutharika to lead the campaign to infuse and instill sanity in Malawi. This call for sound leadership is not because of Mutharika and his DPP; even if the ruling party or president was anybody else we could still make this appeal. The mess, marring in our country ever since one party state was abolished, need to be flushed into the toilet.

Peter Mutharika: Accused of shielding corrupt officials

Malawians were expecting the coming of the fifth government to be the shepherd that would rid of the perpetual leadership bankruptcy, unfortunately Peter Mutharika and his party the DPP have proved that we are adding the days of mess and multiplying the years of agony and suffering.

Last time I cautioned the president to tread carefully when hiring people that sits next to him or cadets who will be defending or protecting him. Today I expose the evidence that will make him and DPP to know that he is surrounded by rotten people that are bent towards destroying him from within.

Mutharika, instead of taking action against his allies who are stealing from the already shrinking government pulse, has resorted to hiring young men to defend his administration in the face of wave of criticisms amid bad governance rocking the country. Two young boys with the numbers +265888785364 and +26599286 6163 are hired to fight for DPP and Peter Mutharika. The money hungry young men have mastered the art of fabricating lies to discredit anyone criticizing the government. Noticing my pace in the fight against mediocrity in government departments, they cooked stories branding as one of the cash gate beneficiaries, and they also lied to say I was in Malawi when I haven’t been home since 2012.

Showing their intellectual bankruptcy, they went on threatening to deal with me accordingly if I continue exposing nasty things in the government. But this piece stands to remind the law professor that you don’t threaten people who are truth tellers and patriots with death, it shows you are cowards and are hiding something serious in your hands.
Failing to root out corruption and stop state theft has made DPP to be the party of murderers.
DPP and Peter Mutharika must know in disregard to how many lives they may kill but the voice of truth fighting for a corrupt free and theft free nation will never stop till all thieves are apprehended. Saunders Jumah the Utopian is one of the voices but there are over 16 million voices fighting the same cause.

Time when free speech combined with truthful talk could send one to the grave went with Kamuzu Banda. Time when freedom to express could land one in prison, went with the old Malawi Congress Party. Which is why I say DPP is a rotten system not worth anticipating to transforming and reforming our country. Voting for DPP and Peter Mutharika that is if we really voted for them;  was the worst and most dangerous mistake our country ever made. This is why the Utopian is one of the shortlisted people to be killed, many more citizens are living in fear notwithstanding the scores of many that were brutalized after the ruling party lost mayoral seat to the opposition in the capital Lilongwe.
This shows the dark part of Peter Mutharika and his ruling party that it is a party of death.

On behalf of all patriotic Malawians I say to the government of Peter Mutharika and Peter Mutharika himself to note that “a brave man is not recognized by the number of catapults he uses to get down the giant Goliath but the way he uses the stone in the catapult.”
Do not regret or say you were not warned when the tough gets going in Malawi. I will speak and am ready to die if it means sacrificing for my country.  To some of us it is our passion to see a better and corrupt free and theft free nation. We will not stop and we are not prepared to let our beautiful country into the hands of thieves and dogs.

The fight will continue till all thieves in the government are apprehended and see the wheel of justice rolling. You can hide evidence or shield culprits but you will never escape. It is but the truth and only the truth that will set us and our country free.
