Ugandan soldiers raid Opposition Leader Bobi Wine’s home

MAGERE-(MaraviPost)-Ugandan opposition politician Bobi Wine has accused hundreds of soldiers of raiding his home in Magere, destroying property and assaulting his family and staff.

The soldiers, allegedly drunk and armed, broke doors and windows while searching for him.

The armed forces, including those in Special Forces Command (SFC) uniforms and UPDF attire, held Wine’s wife at gunpoint, demanding to know his whereabouts.

When she refused to unlock her phone, she was allegedly strangled, insulted, and sexually humiliated.

Wine’s wife was later taken to hospital, where she remains admitted, suffering from physical injuries and psychological trauma.

The raid has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, with Wine’s lawyer urging the international community to seek guarantees for his safety.

Soldiers also looted money, documents, and electronic equipment from the home.

Despite the raid, Wine remains defiant, declaring, “Uganda will be free”.

The Ugandan authorities have not publicly responded to the claims.

Wine has been in hiding since the January 15 election, which he lost to President Yoweri Museveni.

The election was marred by allegations of fraud and violence, with several opposition figures and supporters killed or detained.
