BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Foundational Law Department which is under the faculty of law at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) is allegedly found of doing a misconduct relating to assessment of grades.
In a memo dated February 16, 2020 addressed to all department’s staff members and the students, Head of the Department Samuel Kaphuka said was shocked to learn of the serious allegations on social media regarding the assessment process in the faculty which appear to refer to one course with the faculty.
Kaphuka said, the department has therefore, taken the allegations very seriously for they have capacity to undermine the integrity of the Faculty as well as that of entire assessment process.
“The department does not/will not tolerate this type of misconduct and will respond in a swift and suitable manner to ever complaint brought forward,” said Kaphuka.
He however, urged everyone that has evidence of wrongdoing and/or information that will help in dealing with the matter to bring them forward to the Head of Department (Foundational Law) or directly to the Dean of the Faculty of Law for discipline actions.
The department misconduct will likely to muzzle Malawi’s judicial system operations
Established in 2007, Foundational Law Department is the home of basic and foundational courses in law that the Faculty of Law offers.
