UTM Alarmed by EU’s decision to present elections report just before Court Rules

BLANTYE-(MaraviPost)-UTM party has today expressed its strong opposition in EU’s decision to present the report of the observation of the tripartite elections which took place on 21^st  May 2019.

The party has said this in a letter written to the Acting EU Charge d’Affaires Bourdilleau.

According the UTM president, SKC, the presentation is poorly timed as it interferes with legal process under way in the Malawi courts concern the same elections.

Chilima has described the report as only a “gimmick” that can be used to manipulate the judicial proceedings.

Chilima has also rebuffed the EU’s invite to meet the Mission in line with the elections report.

He has asked the Mission to cancel the presentation of the report until the verdict is delivered.
