UTM condemns Mphepo’s nepotism sentiments

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-United Transformation Movement (UTM) on Tuesday, January 21, took a swipe at the Administrative Secretary for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Francis Mphepo over his remarks on development in the Northern Region of the country.

According to the statement that has been signed by the Secretary General of the Party, Dr. Chidanti Malunga, the sentiments which Mphepo made about the people of the region as being ungrateful are not only insensitive but also nonsensical.

The statement has also stressed that such sentiments have the potential to divide the country into tribal lines, a situation which is recipe for disaster to the economic and political growth of Malawi.

Apparently, the statement has implored the President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, to relieve Mr Mphepo of his duties, saying his sentiments speak volumes of insensitive and irresponsible leaders who are bound to break the nation apart.

Earlier this week, Freedom Party (FP) and Alliance for Democracy also condemned Mphepo for his sentiments about development in the North.
