MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Having fulfilled almost all the promises he made during the campaign period the Mzimba Luwelezi member of Parliament, Samuel Chirwa’s development programs have now centered on the efforts aimed at providing portable safe drinking water to his constituents.
Currently, works on the four water tanks that were vandalized a couple of years ago have reached an advanced stage with every village expected to be connected to the new water supply network.
Speaking to this publication, the youthful parliamentarian expressed satisfaction with the progress of work which he said is community driven in order to avoid the same scenario which gave thugs an opportunity to vandalize the pipes and other appliances.
“As one way of fulfilling the promises I made to my people to bring them portable safe drinking water we have struggled to revamp and expand this water project by erecting four tanks connected with new pipes even replacing old ones because my goal is to have piped water in every village in the soonest possible time,” Chirwa said.
However, the Parliamentarian has appealed to the constituents to take full responsibility for owning such development projects.
“People have seen the relevance of working together with their parliamentarian in providing basic necessities, but we need to safeguard such properties because some ill-minded people will later destroy everything, we need to open our eyes,” he added
The UTM member of Parliament made a fresh commitment that the people of Mzimba Luwelezi will continue getting such tangible developments under his leadership with the usual sound collaboration of his two Councilors.
He then thanked the Ministry of Water and Sanitation for timely responding to his request after the first contractor prematurely abandoned the work for no apparent reason.
