3,122 ADMARC employees face chop

LILONGWE(MaraviPost)-As President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse government set to embarked on restructuring Agricultural Development Marketing Cooperation (ADMARC) 3,122 employees risks to loose jobs.

ADMARC Board Chairperson, Kusamba Dzonzi revealed this on Monday in a meeting with parliamentary committee on Trade.

He said it is very sad that alot of employees at ADMARC do not know how to speak or write english.

Dzonzi said ADMARC needs MK42 billion for the restructuring of the institution

He has asked the committee to urged government to buy 132,000 metric tones from ADMARC to sustain the lives of Malawians as it is a collateral with banks.

In his remarks ,Chairperson for the parliamentary committee on Trade,Simplex Chithyola said the committee will push government to rescue ADMARC from Bank Collateral loan.

Chithyola said the cooperation need to be freed for better operation by sourcing of funds.

Meanwhile the institution is currently owing the banks over K60billion and has been asking government for a bailout.

ADMARC has for years been going through financial challenges despite government injecting money into the corporation and the institution also getting loans, the institution has not been making profits.
