4 Min Read

Love Cape Town’s iconic views? Then you must head out for a hike. If a tough climb isn’t your style, you’re in luck! Our city boasts many accessible, mostly free hikes, ideal for those eager to enjoy nature at their own pace.

Here’s the Love Cape Town guide to our favourite beginner hikes to try in Cape Town:

Pipe Track

Distance: Around 5km return

If you seek an easy hike with panoramic views, the Pipe Track delivers. One of the most accessible Table Mountain routes, it’s mostly flat, with just a few stone steps for variety. The trail starts at Tafelberg Road and Kloof Nek. Park at Kloof Nek, climb steps along the fence on your left, and look for the signpost and trail map at Kasteelspoort, your starting point for the Pipe Track.

From here, it’s all about soaking up the scenery. You’ll wind along the edge of the mountain with sweeping views of Camps Bay, Lion’s Head, and the Atlantic stretching out below. The trail takes you through a series of lush ravines, with plenty of scenic spots to pause for a water break or a few envy-inducing snaps.
