LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera has disclosed that his administration will increase the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from K200 million to MK500 million to ensure efficiency in delivering development projects across the nation.

The Malawi leader made the remarks at Chinsapo Market during his whistle-stop rallies being conducted across Lilongwe ahead of the upcoming elections.

Dr. Chakwera stated that increasing the CDF will help his administration fast-track development initiatives over the next five years of his leadership.

He further revealed that his administration intends to transform the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) into a national development bank to support local entrepreneurs by providing them with greater access to capital.

Malawi Congress Party Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda praised President Chakwera’s leadership for advancing development initiatives, highlighting the construction of modern bridges and roads across the country.

Also speaking at Chilimapunga Community Ground, Ntandire aspirant Member of Parliament George Zulu commended President Chakwera for increasing the CDF, saying the move has, among other things, helped to promote education standards in the area.
