Mutharika heads to South Africa for private trip

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s President Peter Mutharika is set to depart for a private visit to South Africa today, December 1, 2025, leaving from Bakili Muluzi International Airport at 2 pm.

The Office of the President and Cabinet confirmed the trip, with Chief Secretary Justin Adack Saidi announcing the president’s travel plans.

This marks Mutharika’s first foreign trip since assuming office in September.

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has downplayed rumors about Mutharika’s health, stating he’s attending to personal matters in South Africa and is in good spirits.
