The 13th of February 2016 cannot go without notice in the capital city of Malawi. A generation of influence is risen; young men without hope learnt their identity and hope breathed in. A voice of a father with the authority of our Lord God was released to the young people and stories changed.
A landmark event was born in the capital city, the story was everywhere, media houses could not manage to be silent they all gathered to witness the birth of FAME.
The masses asked what is FAME? Why FAME?
The pioneer of this great movement, Pastor Dan Zimba, a youth pastor for Lilongwe Fountain of Victory ministries, could only address such questions. He said FAME is all about Fathers and Mentors hence the name FAME.
The objective of the movement is to raise a generation that is well fathered and mentored. The coming of technology has brought an impact on the behaviour of young people, for example movies, internet, magazines have been seen as a source of credible information which on the way has destroyed many. Should we say that young men do not have fathers?
”We realise that many have fathers but not many fathers make their children sit down to listen to a father’s voice. FAME is here to bridge the gap it will provide a fatherly and mentor voice based on God’s principles. Lives will never lack direction; young men will know who to talk to in moments when their lives need someone, if they have fallen or before they give up in life. This movement is yet to ablaze in the universities, colleges and secondary schools within the country”.
During this landmark event, young people portrayed their God-given talents that coloured the whole program. At last, the voice of the father and mentor through the man of God Bishop Medrum Chirwa, ‘landlord’ of Lilongwe was heard. He said the things we were supposed to change have changed most of the young men. The environment tends to influence many young people it is now time for them to rise and change things.
However, the question would be; how will they do that? The Bishop enlightened the youth that the voice of a father comes in one’s life to give a godly wisdom and identity.
Identity brings freedom; a young man that has realised his identity in CHRIST is bound to be unique and never to conform to the patterns of the world. Being unique will make you be an origin of new things, the world will follow new things. Uniqueness can cause the world to shake and tremble.
