BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-After more than three years away from the team, experienced striker Bright Munthali has made a surprise return to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC, signing a six-month deal.
However, the decision has sparked mixed reactions among fans especially on social media platforms, where some appear dissatisfied with the move.
The discontent has mainly come from some of the club’s vocal supporters and even a few players who believe the club should have looked elsewhere for reinforcement.
One of the team’s supporter, Chisomo Gerald, expressed his disappointment, suggesting the club made a questionable decision.
“To be honest, I doubt Munthali still has the same influence he had in the past. I really don’t know what the coach is thinking,” Gerald said.
On the other hand, local football analyst Ibrahim Phiri defended the club’s move, saying Munthali’s experience could add value to the team.
He pointed out that the striker had been active with Bangwe All Stars last season, which means he hasn’t been completely out of the game.
“Football is about performance, and if the player has been training with the team for a while, perhaps the coaches have seen potential in him,” Phiri explained.
Some doubt whether he can regain his old form, others believe his experience and leadership could be crucial, especially as the team looks to strengthen its squad for the remainder of the season.
