LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Airtel top 8 has called for the crosstown rivals Nyasa Big Bullets FC and Mighty Wanderers FC to the final of this year’s edition at the magnificent Bingu National Stadium in the capital, Lilongwe today, December 17, 2022.
How did the two found themselves in the final?
Nyasa Big Bullets FC met the Crocodiles from the north, Karonga United FC in the quarterfinals.
They emerged the 8-1 winner in the two legs,The Kalisto Pasuwa side won 7-0 at home Kamuzu Stadium and drew 1-1 at Karonga Stadium after the crocodiles failed to repay the Airtel Money Kutchova loan.
The 2021 defending champions then met the Central bankers Silver Strikers FC who were the Champions of the cup in its maiden year 2017 and 2019 in the semifinal.
However the Blantyre giants used the match to revenge the damage the bankers did in 2017, booting them out of the competition in the quarterfinals, 1-0 on aggregate after defeating them 1-0 in Lilongwe and drew 0-0 at Mulanje Park.
Bullets FC defeated mercilessly Silver Strikers FC 3-1 at Kamuzu Stadium through Patrick Mwaungulu, Gomezgani Chirwa and Ernest Petro while Stain Davie made one Airtel call back, but it wasn’t enough to save the Capital City giants.
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC disconnected Airtel network 2-0 at Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO FC) in the first leg at Kamuzu Stadium.
The Soldiers failed to subscribe to the Airtel Internet or to purchase More Faya daily internet bundle as they suffered another 2-0 in Dwangwa at Chitowe.Aggregate 4-0.
The Nomads edged Policemen 2-0 in the semifinals at Kamuzu Stadium with goals from Chiukepo Msowoya and Yamikani Chester.
Blue Eagles FC failed to return the 2 missed calls they got from the Wanderers FC as they looked to be paying for their sins.
Blue Eagles FC has of recent past defeated Nyelele many times.
What to anticipate from Saturday finals
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC President Thom Mpinganjira has asked the technical panel led by Mark Harrison to at least reward him with the cup after spending huge sum of money.Definitely this will mount pressure to the players.
Wanderers have never transacted with Airtel Money since it started in the country in 2017.They have been ending seasons trophy less since 2017 when they last won TNM Superleague.
This season, Nyasa Big Bullets FC have already won FDH Bank Cup Pachema and TNM Superleague and if they win in today’s final,it will mean they will be writing another history in Malawian football of winning treble.
Kalisto Pasuwa side seem to have no pressure going into this final as they have two silverware in their lockers but still more they will be looking forward to send MK17.5 million into their Airtel money account for the pride, being a Blantyre Derby.
Bullets FC have rejuvenated squad which has dominated in the local scene,Patrick Mwaungulu, Kesten Simbi, Ernest Petro,Frank Willard, Babatunde Adepoju, Gomezgani Chirwa have represented the Peoples team well in all completions this season.
Wanderers FC are yet to test a defeat in the hands of their new coach Mark Harrison in almost four games they have played and yet to concede any goal.
