MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera has urged Malawians to remain patient and united as the country works towards a common national goal of meaningful development by the year 2030.
He made these remarks on Sunday while joining congregants of the African Church at their headquarters during a church service held at Chilumba Secondary School in Karonga.
President Chakwera highlighted that since his election in 2020, his administration has implemented numerous development projects across Malawi.
These projects include the construction of roads, bridges, and border posts aimed at improving connectivity and enhancing trade opportunities.
He emphasized that these initiatives are intended to lay the groundwork for sustainable growth and prosperity for all Malawians.
The President noted that over 300,000 farmers have accessed loans designed to boost agricultural productivity.
In addition, more than 4,000 houses have been built for security personnel to improve their living conditions.
Dr. Chakwera further explained that his administration has promoted civil servants and introduced tax waivers to stimulate economic activity and ease the cost of doing business.
Despite these achievements, the President cautioned against economic sabotage by certain individuals who seek to undermine progress and tarnish his government’s image.
Reverend Helton Gondwe, the Financial Controller speaking on behalf of the African Church, praised President Chakwera for his choice of running mate, Vitumbiko Mumba.
He stated that the church is pleased with this decision and pledged to support Mumba in the upcoming elections.
The service was a reflection of the close relationship between the government and faith-based organizations in Malawi’s development journey.
