BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera together with the First Lady, on Monday, June 9, 2025 lead Malawians in funeral ceremony for the late Joyce Chitsulo, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture at Malowa Primary School Ground, Thambani in Mwanza District
The Malawi leader joined the public in paying his last respect to the late Chitsulo.
Speaking during the ceremony, daughter to the late Chitsulo, Maureen, commended President Chakwera for the support during her mother’s illness until her passing.
She refuted social media reports that Government was silent during the illiness of her late mother indicating that Chakwera was always there to offer the much needed support.
“The president was always checking on my mum and I want to take this opportunity to thank the President even for trusting my mum with the Deputy Minister position,” she indicated.
Maureen further revealed that there was a time Dr Chakwera wanted to send her late mother to South Africa but she refused saying that she had already recovered.
Meanwhile, Senior Chief Govati has hailed the late Chitsulo for her stand towards development on top of politics.
In his remarks, Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Richard Chimwendo Banda said the nation has lost an icon who was a blessing to everyone.
