LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-While on his campaign tour of Lilongwe District today, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera took time to switch on electricity to communities under the Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (MAREP) Phase 9 at Bisai Trading Centre in Lilongwe Nyanja Constituency.
He emphasized that electricity has now been brought right to the doorsteps of the people of this constituency, highlighting its potential to light homes, power public facilities, boost businesses, and create new opportunities for local residents.
Under MAREP Phase 9, the government is providing electricity to 460 sites nationwide, targeting approximately 46,000 households across Malawi.
President Chakwera stressed that these achievements represent tangible development gains that must be safeguarded by voting for him and all Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidates on September 16.
The event underscores the government’s commitment to improving access to electricity as a key driver of economic growth and community development.
Supporters at Bisai Trading Centre expressed optimism and enthusiasm, viewing the electricity rollout as a sign of progress and the transformative impact of sustained government interventions.
In conclusion, President Chakwera’s engagement at Bisai Trading Centre demonstrates the intersection of governance, development, and political mobilization.
The electrification initiative not only delivers immediate benefits to households and businesses but also symbolizes the broader promise of continued infrastructure development under MCP leadership, reinforcing the argument for continuity in leadership to advance Malawi’s socio-economic growth.
