A Chancellor College Social Sciences student Esther Kachikuni was found dead in her room in Kamuzu Hostel today morning. Her body has since been taken to College of Medicine for a postmortem examinations.
It is said that late Esther Chikuni complained of a headache yesterday night. She is a student with disabilities and uses a wheelchair. She was staying in her room alone.
Some students on campus have questioned the administration’s logic in putting people with disabilities in a singles room.
It is said that had she been staying with a companion perhaps her dear life would be saved as the companion would be able to alert the authorities in time.
Late Esther Kachikuni was a final year student. Her burial arrangements are yet to be made.

To some of you who have never been to Chancellor College. Kamuzu Hall is the only residential hall that was built with ammenities that serve women. And it is the premier hall that has rooms that offer wheelchair access. The rest of the residential halls have no wheel chair access because of the many stairs involved. Please also be educated that Kamuzu Hall was designed for ONE STUDENT PER ROOM and not two. So how could she have a room mate.
So sad, MHSRIP
